The Gift of Peace and Wholeness Through Forgiveness During the Holiday Season

By Leave a comment

Our relationships intensify in so many ways in the holiday season. We have so much expectation of ourselves and others that we are often disappointed at some level when all is said and done.

Forgiveness is the ultimate gift that we can give to ourselves. During the holiday season we will experience ample opportunities to give ourselves this gift. Examples include the issues and expectations that arise about family meal planning, expectations regarding gifting, past feelings and future anxieties about, “what if?, and, if only…”. Anything that rejects what IS.

Awareness of these expectations which are residents of the past and the future rather than the Eternal Now are an opportunity for us to consider forgiving ourselves with love and compassion.

Default Ego-Consciousness operations will be very active during the holidays through noticeable compulsive behaviours, anxiety and other uncomfortable feelings while Being-Consciousness is activated through the choice to enter the Eternal Now and manifests as a calmness in which you are observing yourself and situations with a sense of neutrality.

Notice your experiences in your body and mind, then say something like, “Ah, there I am attached to the outcomes and expectations of others and myself- oh, how cool that I am noticing this”. You can then smile and forgive yourself and come immediately into the Eternal Now. No one will be the wiser that you are operating the dance of your Ego-Consciousness and Being-Consciousness voluntarily.

Alternatively, you can gain peace and wholeness by entering the Eternal Now through noticing or mindfulness. Notice your breath, notice pleasant music, sing, play, etc. From that place you will likely enter the Eternal Now where you experience your Being-Consciousness. There, you will encounter what forgiveness brings to you, even without consciously forgiving.

As forgiveness is a walk, or path to your own consciousness, I wish you a momentous journey as the gift you give yourself, always.

Namaste,
Bobbi
